Institute of Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation - IDCT

The Institute of Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation – IDCT is a non governmental and non profit organization established in 2005. The Institute is affiliated to the School of Arts Sciences at the Lebanese American University, Byblos, Lebanon. 

The mission of the Institute for Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation includes inter alia: disseminate knowledge about diplomacy and conflict management and its role in international relations; expand and strengthen human rights awareness, enhance human rights culture, promote knowledge about fundamental human rights; provide training on a wide range of issues related to the goals and functions of international diplomacy, protocol, negotiation, decision making, bargaining strategies and techniques of resolving conflict, human rights, and effective representation of political, economic and cultural interests.

To achieve its mission, the Institute engages in the following activities: hold lectures, panels, workshops and conferences on topics pertaining to diplomacy, conflict transformation and human rights; provide courses to train current and aspiring diplomats, civil society leaders, and individuals who seek careers pertaining to the goals of this Institute; recommend LAU faculty and students to organize or participate in simulation models and exercises pertaining to the UN, conflict resolution and human rights issues; organize workshops and seminars on pertinent topics; design and implement programs promoting transformation of conflict, peace building and human rights.
