Meet the Team
Abdallah Al Khal
Director of Alumni Relations
Early in 2007 Abdallah Al Khal ‘84 was promoted to director of Alumni Relations. His goals for the Alumni Relations office, which is based on the Beirut campus, include:
- Creating a comprehensive menu of alumni activities including social, cultural, educational and service opportunities both on and off campus;
- Expanding the worldwide network of alumni chapters to cater to our entire alumni community;
- Working closely with the career guidance officers to organize career service-related events;
- Creating awareness among students about life after graduation and why it’s important to stay connected to LAU;
- Keeping the alumni website up-to-date and building an online community to help alumni reconnect with each other.

Ghada Majed
Assistant Director of
Alumni Relations
In May 2007, Ghada Majed ‘00 joined the Alumni Relations office as assistant director. She will work toward implementing a comprehensive alumni relations program that builds alumni participation and support through strong communication, personal interaction and organization of reunions, chapters and special events. Her responsibilities include managing the alumni publications and alumni website and supervising the development of special programs for students and young alumni.

Manwa Abdallah Ghannoum
Alumni Liaison Officer
Manwa Ghannoum ‘96 establishes and maintains contact with LAU alumni. She also helps in planning and organizing alumni events, and works with the appropriate departments to ensure that events receive the support, materials and equipment they need. Finally, she collaborates with the Publications office on important alumni communications such as the LAU Magazine and Alumni Bulletin and the website. Ed Shiner
University Programs Manager,
New York Office
Ed Shiner joined the LAU staff in October 2006. His main focus is alumni relations in North America, including establishing alumni chapters in cities across the US and Canada. Recently, he has brought online chapters in Washington, DC; New York City; Orlando, Florida; and Dearborn, Michigan. Plans for more chapters and a North America reunion are also on the docket.
