Overview & Rules
Dear Alumni,
As per the newly adopted Constitution and Bylaws of the Alumni Association of the Lebanese American University (http://www.lau.edu.lb/alumni/assoc/constitution.php, http://www.lau.edu.lb/alumni/assoc/bylaws.php), and based on the decision of the steering committee of the Alumni Association Board in its meeting of July 2, 2007, to which all board members were invited, elections for alumni chapters worldwide will take place in the fall of 2007. These elections will be for all officers and executive committee members of chapters.
The Steering Committee of the Alumni Association Board has developed the below guidelines for the upcoming elections:

- Membership dues must be paid prior to September 15th, 2007 whether to vote or to run for an elected office (Bylaws Article II, Section 1).
- A fixed membership fee of $27 USD for the combination of alumni ID and annual membership, and $20 USD for annual membership alone have been set by the university.
Mechanism for elections
- Each officer is to be elected separately.
- There must be at least one candidate nominated for each position (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Member at Large).

- Presidents and Secretaries are to be elected for 3 year terms.
