Look Who Is Speaking
The Alumni Relations Office organized a lecture on Friday April 4, 2008 at the Business Building, Beirut Campus. The lecture was entitled "LOOK WHO IS SPEAKING," by LAU instructor Dr. Nabelah A. Haraty, an expert in oral communication. Over 120 alumni and friends attended the event.
Dr. Haraty addressed the concerns of those who are uncomfortable when having to speak to a group of people, irrespective of the number. She gave reasons why this happens and how to best conquer speech anxiety.
The lecture covered:
- The role of communication in the 21st century.
- Elements of good communication.
- Obstacles to effective communication.
- Communication apprehension.
- The seven interactive personality dimensions (acronym BASICS).
- Track your firing order and see where it begins.
- Putting it all together.
The event was followed by a reception.
