CALL FOR PAPERS - SPECIAL SESSION on

Natural Computation and Knowledge Discovery for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics

26-28 July 2011, Shanghai, China

Co-located with the 7th International Conference on Natural Computation and the 8th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery

This special session will bring together researchers, practitioners, and graduate students to discuss the latest advances in the application of Natural Computation and Knowledge Discovery to real world problems in biology and bioinformatics. That is, the objective of this special session is to offer a forum for presenting the applications of powerful algorithms, such as genetic algorithms, scatter search, swarm optimization, ant colony optimization, etc…, and data mining techniques such as classification, clustering, discovering frequent patterns, etc…, to complex and intractable problems in computational biology and bioinformatics. The problems of interest cover, but are not limited to: RNA and protein folding and structure prediction; protein-protein interaction; molecular docking and drug design; Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) analysis; gene-disease association; gene expression analysis; gene selection, clustering, and prediction; gene regulatory networks; biomarker discovery; molecular evolution and phylogenetics, sequence alignment and analysis, metabolic pathway analysis, analysis of large biological data sets, immuno- and chemo-informatics, bioimaging informatics; bio and medical ontologies, motif detection; systems biology.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Prospective authors are invited to submit papers by email to nmansour@lau.edu.lb. Manuscripts should be of no more than eight pages in the format found at http://icnc-fskd.dhu.edu.cn/template.htm.
Submissions will be peer reviewed and accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and will be included in IEEE Xplore.
Authors of accepted papers are expected to register and present their paper at the special session.
