Resumption of classes

Dear Colleagues, Friends and Students:

After consultation with the University Planning Council in a meeting that took place this morning at 9:00 a.m., the following decisions were taken:

The University, with its two campuses in Byblos and Beirut, will go back to normal operation on Monday, May 19, 2008, including resumption of classes with a plan to make-up for lost days according to the revised academic calendar 2007-2008 and a separate document that reflects the changes only in the said revised calendar.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their exemplary cooperation and commitment to LAU. May God protect you and your families and bring peace to our beloved Lebanon.

Academic calendar changes

Spring 2008 classes resume on Monday May 19.

Three Saturdays will be used to make up for three lost class days as follows:
- Saturday, 24 May will be a make up for a Thursday
- Saturday, 31 May will be a make up for a Friday
- Saturday, 7 June will be a make up for a Monday
Instead of Monday the 9th of June classes will end on Wednesday, the 11th of June.
The Final Exam period will be pushed by one day (New dates: Friday June 13 to Monday June 23). Thursday, June 12 will be a Reading Day.
The last day for withdrawal from courses for Spring semester will be Wednesday, 4 June.
The Advising Period in June will be on Tuesday 24–Wednesday 25.
The Registration Period for new students for Summer Module I will be on Tuesday 24–Wednesday 25.
Other Spring semester calendar dates remain unchanged.
The calendar for Summer Modules I and II will remain unchanged.
Commencement days remain unchanged.

Update on entrance exams

The May 10, 2008 LAU entrance exams (FE, SE, EEE) have been rescheduled for June 14, 2008. Students should report to the designated testing facility (LAU Cafeteria) as usual. All other entrance exams remain as previously scheduled. More information.
