Update: May 15

— posted Wed May 14, 2008 at 12:37 PM

Dear Colleagues, Friends, and Students,

As promised, we are coming back to you with an update regarding tomorrow, May 15, 2008.

After consultation with the University Planning Council in a meeting that took place this morning at 9:00 a.m., the following decisions were taken in light of the prevalent situation in Lebanon:

  1. Faculty and Staff. The University, with its two campuses in Byblos and Beirut, will be open on May 15, 2008. Again here, we ask faculty and staff before traveling to either campus, to use their judgment in assessing road conditions and in always being mindful of their personal safety.
  2. Faculty and Students. Given the prevalent situation in the country, there will be no classes tomorrow, May 15, 2008. We would like to inform our students that we are finalizing a tentative academic schedule for them so that they may be able to make up for lost classes and accordingly, complete the semester.

We will on a daily basis keep you informed of any changes in schedule.

We pray for the safety of all the members of the LAU family and for peace in our beloved Lebanon.

You may also call telephone number 01 786456 or 09 547254, extension 1020 to get an update on the status of the University operation.

Thank you and please keep safe.

Joseph G. Jabbra
President
