At these hard times our country is going through, we bring this message to encourage you to remain focused on the purpose of our presence here at the university.
Although we know students are living under stressful conditions, we stand responsible to the mission of our institution and feel obliged, even under the most difficult times, to provide all students with an education that is second to none. Accordingly, we ask you all to behave with utmost responsibility with regards to your future.
We definitely respect the right of every one of you to express your feelings freely. However, this should not in any way jeopardize the freedom of others. LAU is keen on graduating the future leaders of the region, but is adamant to do this with utmost respect to the rights of all and to the mission of the university.
Kindly follow up the regular updates on our website on any scholastic developments, and be sure that for the sake of the majority of its students, the university will make sure that the student code of conduct will be respected fully.
As we are still making up for the days lost during summer, a reminder is necessary that all days of unscheduled vacations will have to be made up during weekends (or other regular vacations), hoping that days lost will still be salvageable. We call on all to carry the LAU mission in their hearts and work collectively towards our common goal.

My beloved LAU family,
In these trying times I feel compelled to come to you with this message expressing my deep appreciation for who you are and what you are doing.
You have instilled in me the spirit of loving and caring for others. You all have become my family. I draw energy from your warmth, inspiration from your commitment, and enthusiasm from your smiling faces. Energy to achieve, inspiration to create, commitment to excel, and warmth to love and care are the golden fibres of strength from which the LAU tapestry is weaved. Of course, these qualities come in handy in times of crisis and asperity. I am glad they grace and sustain our well-knit LAU community as we go through these difficult and challenging times. I salute these qualities in each one of you. I salute your resolve that made it possible for the University to keep both campuses in Beirut and in Byblos open for business, in order to serve our constituents, during these hard times.
Although the prevailing situation is prohibiting us from holding classes, still, we are working diligently to come up with the best plan possible to ensure that students who enrolled in the Summer Module I may complete the courses they are registered in, and that all our students are availed of the opportunity to pursue their education, as soon as the situation in the country permits.
As I have always said to you, our motto will always remain, “Excellence is our Passion, and LAU is our Pride”. This motto is more real to us now than at any other time.
Finally, allow me to thank you again for all that you do for LAU and for the bright future that I believe awaits us. I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep safe. I love you all and I am proud to be one of you.
Thank you,
Joseph G. Jabbra, Ph.D.
