Adjunct Faculty, Digital & Interactive Media

The Department of Art & Design and the Foundation Program at the School of Architecture & Design at the Lebanese American University, Beirut campus is now accepting applications for Adjunct Faculty Position in Digital and Interactive Media, for the academic year 2019-2020. The department is seeking faculty to teach digital media courses at the Graphic Design program and in the formative year / the Foundation Program (a common platform to all entering students in Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design and Fine Arts). Applicants interested in this position should have prior experience in teaching, and would be required to teach the following courses.

GRDE440 - Interactive Media [2-2, 3 cr.]

Course Description: This digital studio course explores the design of online interactive platforms, website navigation and web structures for bilingual user experiences. Research and concept development support the design and development of web spaces. Students are introduced to HTML and CSS through an integrated lab. Teamwork and collaboration tactics with developers are encouraged within the course.

GRDE411 - User Experience [2-2, 3 cr.] 

Course Description: This advanced digital studio course explores effective visual communication through human interaction with designed interfaces. The course is designed to equip students with behavioral theory, design practice and technological know-how that are necessary for interaction design, gaming, usability and user researcher.UX/UI are taught as the course addresses complex concepts and techniques of user experience design. Focus is on the analysis, design, prototyping and evaluation of multimedia, multi-modal, and multi-platform user interfaces. A history of user centric interactive media and its evolution serve a basis for the course. 

FND251 - Digital Media [2–2, 3Cr] 

Course Description: This studio course is composed of two parts, starting with a basic exposure to computer platforms and the primary software used in computer graphics application. The first part addresses the basics of generating and manipulating images using digital media, and covers monochrome patterns, control and mix of colors, raster images, scanning, pixel and vector graphics. The second part introduces the basic concepts of four-dimensional design, in which properties of time and movement are explored. A range of time-based media are addressed from computer-driven technologies and digital photography to interactive media. A workshop on video editing and post production is offered as integral part of this studio. 

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor’s or a Master’s Degree in Digital Media, Interactive Design, or Graphic Design with teaching experience.

This position will be open in fall 2019, which starts mid-August.
