The School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University (LAU) is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in Music at the professorial rank in the Department of Communication Arts. Candidates must hold a Doctorate degree or terminal degree in a music field, and must possess a strong record in teaching, performance, scholarly activities, and community engagement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in survey of Middle Eastern and Western music, chorale, fundamentals of music and music education. Professional experience in organizing concerts and musical productions is an asset.

The Department of Communication Arts is one of the seven departments of the School of Arts and Sciences. It offers a BA in Communication Arts, the Department’s flagship program, which has three emphases: Journalism, Radio/TV/Film, and Theater. The department produces two major theatre productions every year and around 25 student productions. Available facilities include:

  1. Newsrooms, i.e. journalism-geared room where students can sharpen their writing, editing and layout skills.
  2. Radio/TV/Film studios providing all the tools necessary for audiovisual production in one place.
  3. Two prominent and well-equipped theaters (Irwin and Gulbenkian) in Beirut, and another (Salima Kurban) in Byblos. The three offer venues for stage performances, concerts, dance shows, film screenings, theatre workshops, special events, conferences, lectures and exams.

LAU has two campuses, one in Beirut (Lebanon’s cosmopolitan capital and largest population hub) and another in Byblos, about 35 kilometers north of Beirut.
