Academic Grant Coordinator

The Academic Grant Coordinator is responsible to assist the university faculty and staff in seeking, developing, managing, and submitting proposals for national and international funding in accordance with the established policies of the University. The candidate reports to the Dean of Graduate Studies & Research and should establish and maintain effective working relationships between grant applicants/recipients, funding sources, grants financial officer, legal counsel, other pertinent LAU administrative departments and external regulatory agencies.
Job Requirement
The successful candidate must have:
- Advanced education at the Master's or PhD level
- Professional experience in grant programs development and administration in an academic environment
- Supervision skills
- A successful record of preparing proposals and administering grants from international, national and private funding agencies
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with faculty and staff in a variety of disciplines across the university
Responsibilities
- Ensures that the LAU qualifications/requirements are met for major international funding agencies (NIH, NSF, EU, etc...)
- Oversees, directs and facilitates the Research grants management functions at LAU
- Responds promptly and accurately to all enquiries from granting agencies
- Complements the scientific and technical knowledge of Principal Investigators with expertise in the administration, finance and other non-programmatic areas of grants administration
- Serves as the central point for receiving and processing of all grant applications and related documents
- Ensures that grants are awarded, administered and terminated in accordance with
established policies and procedures of granting agencies and LAU
- Reviews applications submitted to funding agencies and granting foundations
- Helps faculty understand the regulations of the granting agencies
- Assists principal investigators in identifying research funding opportunities
- Participates in the negociating terms and conditions of awards, whenever required
