The Department of Art & Design at the School of Architecture & Design invites applicants for part-time faculty positions for Spring 2017. Applicants should have teaching experience and demonstrate expertise relevant to the following course:
GRA361 Designing for Social Change [3cr.]
In this studio course students actively engage in the design of a community-based project. The aim of this course is to facilitate collaborations between student designers and the community. Emphasis is placed upon design thinking and participatory design as a means to engage audiences within design towards positive social change. In this class students work as a group of active citizen designers that guide and shape critical aspects of their community. The course addresses the ethical implications, role of visual communication and cultural integrity of design in society. This course is taught through discussions, projects, workshops and on-site research.

Minimum Requirements: Candidates should have an MFA or MA in graphic design or related fields.
Duration of position: This position will open in Spring 2017 (which starts on January 16, 2017).
Application Process: Candidates should apply electronically by sending a letter of intent outlining their particular design pedagogy, the courses which they are qualified to teach, a CV with names of three references, and the following:
- Professional portfolio with examples of design projects (PDF, 15 pages maximum)
- Teaching portfolio with examples of syllabi and students’ work (PDF, 15 pages maximum)
