The School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University (LAU) is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department. LAU is a leading higher education institution in the Middle East operating on two campuses in Beirut and Byblos, Lebanon, and enrolls over 8000 students. LAU is chartered by the Regents of the State University of New York and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The School of Pharmacy enrolls over 500 students and offers a BS in Pharmacy and a PharmD program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The School of Pharmacy is committed to achieving and sustaining the highest quality of pharmacy education and pharmaceutical research.
Position Description
The position main duties include teaching (didactic and laboratory at undergraduate and graduate levels), research, service, and leading the development of a graduate program in Pharmaceutics/Biopharmaceutics. The successful candidate is also expected to assist in advancing the industrial pharmacy clerkship rotations for pharmacy students, support the research initiatives in collaboration with pharmaceutical industries, and contribute to accomplishing all aspects of the mission and functions of the School of Pharmacy.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a degree in Pharmacy and a PhD in Pharmaceutics/ Biopharmaceutics and/or Industrial Pharmacy. Postdoctoral research experience and documentation of quality teaching performance and scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals are required. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 5-7 years of postdoctoral professional academic work experience at a School of Pharmacy, teaching in a pharmaceutical graduate or professional program, grants submission, and steady research productivity. The successful candidate must also demonstrate leadership abilities, effective verbal and writing communication skills, superior team work approach, and ability to effectively function in an interdisciplinary academic environment. Experience with curricular development, assessment and evaluation, writing grant proposals, and successful track-record in obtaining extramural funding for research/scholarly projects are highly desirable.
