The Department of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University (LAU) invites applicants for non-tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professors. While the primary emphasis of these positions is on teaching, practice and service, research productivity is also an expectation. The positions are fully-funded by the LAU School of Pharmacy.
Start Date: September 1, 2017
Responsibilities
- Provide didactic teaching based on program needs
- Precept pharmacy students assigned on practice site
- Develop an integrated clinical practice and contribute to the collaborative patient care team at LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital (LAUMC-RH) or other designated school-affiliated practice site
- Participate in service to the department, university and practice site
- Contribute to the university’s interprofessional education program
- Develop research projects and publish scholarly work
- Attend to the program’s accreditation requirements
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a recognized institution
- Completed a PGY1 residency
- Has patient care practice experience in U.S. health-systems
- Has didactic/experiential education experiences in U.S. academic institutions/health-systems
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for precepting students and serving as a role model practitioner
- Shows strong desire for patient care and the advancement of pharmacy practice
- Has effective communication and interpersonal skills, with active professional engagement, collegiality and cooperative abilities
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Lebanon
Preferred Added Qualifications:
- Completed a PGY2 specialty residency and/or fellowship
- Has documented research and scholarly output
- Has the knowledge in curricular development, assessment and accreditation requirements
- Has experience in active learning and/or clinical simulation
- Earned board certification from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
Candidates with a specialty in drug information, general medicine, pediatrics or oncology are encouraged to apply.
The School:
The LAU School of Pharmacy is located in Byblos, Lebanon, and enrolls around 450 students. It has a five-year BS in pharmacy program, and a six-year PharmD program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The School of Pharmacy is committed to achieving and sustaining the highest quality of pharmacy education and pharmaceutical research in the region. It has a culturally diverse student and faculty groups who are devoted to a progressive academic environment, the development of the individual and service to the community.
