The School of Architecture and Design is dedicated to developing a design culture founded on the principles of Liberal Education, while meeting the challenges of the contemporary world. The school has an enrollment of 1200 undergraduate students and a full-time faculty of 22 members, distributed across three departments: Fine Arts & Foundation Studies, Design, and Architecture & Interior Design. It offers Bachelor degrees in Fine Arts, Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic design and Fashion Design.
The school is currently in the process of applying for professional accreditation for all its major programs, as well as studying the feasibility of offering masters degrees in various design fields. It is also in the process of physical expansion, on both campuses, in Beirut and Byblos.
The School of Architecture and Design is seeking to fill the position of Associate Dean. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Dean in overseeing the various programs as far as curricular development, accreditation and the development of assessment procedures, and will represent the school on various university committees. S/he is expected to teach in their area of expertise at the reduced load of 12 credits/year.
The successful candidate’s record should demonstrate experience in administration, as well as excellence in teaching, research and/or practice in their field.
Minimum Requirements: Candidates should have a minimum of a PhD in any of the design fields, administrative experience, and be at the rank of Associate Professor or above.
Duration of position: This position will open in Fall 2014, which starts in September 2014; and is renewed on a year-by-year basis.
