The Foundation Program in the School of Architecture & Design at the Lebanese American University is now accepting applications for a part time faculty position for the academic year 2016-2017, for its Beirut Campus.

The Foundation Program is a program common to all entering students in Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design and Fashion Design. The program is seeking faculty to teach the two-dimensional design studio, which is directed towards the development of an understanding of the basic elements of composition in visual language such as: point, line, shape, form, pattern, texture, and space and the Compositional Orders, as well as the theory of color and it’s components.
Applicants to this position should have prior experience in teaching foundation, specifically 2D studios, and would be required to teach the following studio: 

Design Studio I-A

Course Description
This studio emphasizes on visual perception through an initiation into the different modes of two-dimensional representation and formal analysis of the basic elements of visual language, such as: point, line, shape and figure/ground structure, color and the effects of light on forms. Exercises in this studio are intended to sharpen the student’s perception of shapes and forms, and to train the eye and the hand in the process of interpretation and representation of two-dimensional visuals. Supplemented by the analysis of major artworks, this studio introduces a variety of techniques, exploring their possibilities and application.

Minimum Requirements: a Masters in any Art or Design field with teaching experience in Foundation Studies.

Duration of position: This position will be open in FALL 2016, which starts on August 26.
