The Department of Natural Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a part-time faculty position in the fields of Physical Chemistry and/or Analytical Chemistry, effective Spring 2018. The department is seeking a highly qualified and motivated faculty member who is committed to innovative teaching, program development and academic advising. Prospective candidates must have earned a PhD in Physical Chemistry (with emphasis on computational chemistry, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics or material science) or Analytical Chemistry (with emphasis on forensic chemistry, chromatography, LCMS, GCMS and/or ICPMS). The successful candidate(s) is/are expected to teach a variety of courses in the field of Chemistry on the Beirut and/or Byblos campuses (mainly Byblos campus).
- Teach undergraduate courses in chemistry
- Engage in scholarly work and research
- Co-supervise senior year projects
- Advise and mentor students
- Additional duties may be set by the department in light of departmental needs and priorities.
The Department of Natural Sciences (http://sas.lau.edu.lb/natural-sciences/) is one of the seven departments of the School of Arts and Sciences (http://sas.lau.edu.lb/) at LAU. It offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology, a B.S. in Chemistry, a B.S. in Nutrition, and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Molecular Biology.
LAU has two campuses, one in Beirut and the other in Byblos, about 35 kilometers north of Beirut.
