Early Childhood Centre Lab School Supervisor

The Department of Education (DoE), under the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University (LAU), is seeking a full-time Supervisor for the Early Childhood Centre Lab School (ECC Lab School) to be located in Beirut campus. Under the general direction of the Department of Education, the ECC Supervisor will assume responsibility in providing administration, and coordination of the ECC. Duties include planning, implementing, and administering activities to meet established requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate administrative functions of the ECC
- Work in collaboration with DoE to manage budget for the ECC
- Develop and continually assess curriculum/design and adapt curricula accordingly with DoE
- Supervise early childcare staff
- Prepare and coordinate professional development opportunities for staff and parents
- Report to faculty of education on matters related to the ECC (Practicum of ECE students, preparing workshops, conferences etc…)
- Ensure positive relations with parents and meet regularly to discuss children’s progress
- Assume responsibility for children’s overall safety and health, as well as for all staff
- Supervise, guide and support university students placed in the ECC
- Facilitate research functions in the ECC in collaboration with DoE
- Establish policies and communicate them to staff and parents
- Hire and train new staff members
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- A minimum of a TD in ECE, Elementary Education, Child Development or related field
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar line of work
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
- Pleasant, patient and nurturing ability to thrive in a collaborative, evolving environment
- Inspired, creative, committed, professional, dedicated to developing an innovative, collaborative early learning experience for young children
- Demonstrate ability to develop an inclusive, community-building approach to teaching and learning, and a commitment to inquiry, reflection and teacher research
- Fluency in verbal and written English and Arabic – French is a plus
