Graphic Designer/Art Director for the Outreach & Civic Engagement (Part-time position)

The Outreach and Civic Engagement Office has a vacancy for a Graphic Designer/Art Director (part-time position). The position is based in Byblos Campus, but periodic commuting to Beirut Campus is required.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Works with OCE team members to provide professional recommendations for concept, design, art direction, production, and print specifications
- Develops design of posters, logos, brochures, webpages, and other art work
- Develops infographics and short videos
- Plans and illustrates concept by designing and presenting rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts
- Finalizes lay out based on feedback and prepares artwork
- Performs other related duties as and when required
- Reports to the Assistant Vice President of Outreach and Civic Engagement
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in graphic design from an accredited university
- 1-2 years of experience in relevant field
- Good English-language skills (both oral and written)
- Creativity and ability to communicate ideas in writing, visually, and verbally
- Extremely detail-oriented, creative flair, originality and a strong visual sense
- Demonstrated excellence in Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat CS5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Excellent command of industry-standard digital production tools on Mac
- Familiarity with web design concepts and best practices is a plus
- Ability to create a visual “language” (or create new elements following an established style, depending on the assignment)
- Awareness and respect of intellectual property and due diligence in the use of fonts, stock images, royalty-free icons, etc…
- Confidence to present and explain ideas to teammates
- Ability to interact professionally and friendly with printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, website designers and marketing specialists
- Self-disciplined with ability to work independently, timely, and under pressure
