The Planning and Renovations Office is looking for an Interior Designer (Part-time Position) to be located in Beirut Campus. This position carries out interior design and furniture design for the University. This position establishes furniture and interior design standards and guidelines, and provides interior design expertise to ensure that the University’s built environment is well designed. The goals of this work are to ensure that the University’s interior spaces are efficiently planned, safe, easily operated and maintained; that they support the University’s working, teaching, and learning objectives and that they are functional, beautiful, cost effective and environmentally sustainable.
Duties & Responsibilities: (Include but not limited to the following)
Operational duties:
- Provides interior design services for different requests/projects of various sizes and manages furniture requests.
- Selects furniture and interior systems in response to customer requests.
- Assists in developing design standards and guidelines for furniture and furniture systems.
- Provides professional interior design and drafting services for the production of interior design drawings at all stages of the design process, from design drawings to construction documents.
- This position will work in a variety of indoor environments, from typical office settings to almost any university building or site.
Reporting to upper management:
- Prepare all technical reports, relevant documentations, presentations for obtaining appropriate approvals.
- The Interior Designer reports to the Assistant Director for Space Planning and Management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Interior Design from a renowned university.
- Three years of experience with commercial or institution interior design.
- Experience to include knowledge of exterior and interior design business practices, integrated design process, building code, ergonomics, accessibility, universal design, and sustainable design.
- Experience in an educational institution or similar environment is an asset.
Skills:
- Ability to review, analyze and synthesize information into a concept or strategy.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, showing attention to detail.
- Ability to prepare clearly written documents, presentations and reports.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
- Specialized knowledge of interior design, drafting and the development of construction documents; knowledge of industry standards, proficient in AutoCAD, Illustrator and Microsoft Office.
