The School of Arts and Sciences - Byblos Campus- has a vacancy for a Senior Theater Technician who will be mainly responsible to supervise and execute the operation of lighting and sound equipment and set construction during in-doors and out-doors theatre productions, LAU University Theater Festival and extra-curricular activities in or out of the theatres. Trains students to operate and maintain lighting, sound and backstage equipment and tools.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises and executes the operation of lighting and sound equipment, video/film projectors, sets construction and Theatrical carpentry during the theatre productions, LAU University Theater festival and extra-curricular activities
- Be responsible for the well-functioning/setting up/operating of audio visual equipment such as; Lighting Set and Programing, microphones, Video and Data projectors, speakers, video monitors, video screens, Audio systems / Speakers and monitors, sound and mixing boards, connecting Audio/Video wires
- Supervises the theaters during special events, presentations, conferences, lectures, seminars, faculty/staff meetings, film screening, stage performances & rehearsals and other extra-curricular activities
- Trains Communication Arts and financial aid students to operate lighting and sound equipment, to maintain lanterns and to keep the work environment safe for all concerned parties
- Operates/maintains/executes the operation of technical equipment as well as systems used in the control rooms and back stage (programming & operations) and updating it with latest technology
- Ensures that all equipment are in good working conditions and in case they need repair must inform that to the supervisor/Chair
- Installs rigging, lighting, sound equipment, and scenery, and erects stages for theatrical, musical, and other entertainment events in, the theaters, and related outdoor activities
- Works hand to hand with STAGE MANAGER, (students/Faculty members) to determine type and location of sets, props, scenery, lighting/ Programing, and sound equipment required for specific events and plays
- Implements Extreme safety Grad Measures when using the electrical equipment by the Students/Faculty members during rehearsals/events
- Up-dates inventories of the backstage (properties & costumes) and control room theatre equipment and supplies (lighting projectors, dimmer boards, sound mixers, microphones, speakers, bulbs, lighting accessories, etc…)
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Requirements:
- TS in Décoration & Design or Electronics
- 8-11 years of experience
- Full understanding of all aspects of technical theatre
- Proven working experience within a professional arts environmental theatre
- Knowledge of:
- Lighting and sound systems
- Set Construction and tools/equipment
- Strong English communication skills
- Computer literate
