University Librarian (UL)

The Lebanese American University seeks a University Librarian for its libraries in Beirut and Byblos campuses. The Lebanese American University is a leading higher education institution in the Middle East operating on two campuses. It has seven schools and serves over 8000 students, 550 faculty, and 800 staff members. The University is committed to student centeredness, academic excellence and the advancement of scholarship. The Riyad Nassar Library in Beirut is one of the fastest growing libraries in the Middle East, and is electronically connected to leading academic data-bases and other library services. The university has committed to upgrade its facilities in the Byblos campus, where the Medical Library housed in the Gilbert and Rose Mary Chaghoury building is about to be completed, and a campus library is scheduled to be erected soon. The services of the libraries are supported by a staff of 50 specialists and over 126 student assistants. The UL is responsible for managing the operations of the libraries with the aim of enhancing their role as primary educational tools at the University.
The UL reports to the Provost and is supposed to assume the position beginning Fall 2012.
