Reserve Materials: Help
What is e-Reserve?
e-Reserve, which consist of required readings assigned by faculty members (i.e., journal articles, term papers, old exams, book chapters, notes, etc.), are available online to instructors and students of LAU at http://ereserve.lau.edu.lb/. The system used at LAU Libraries to provide these materials is called ERes. Some of the benefits of ERes are:
- Materials are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Multiple users can access the same document simultaneously.
- Students can view/download/print their reserve materials on any computer with Internet access.
- Faculty can place a variety of materials on their course reserve site including journal articles, book chapters, syllabi, assignments, and links to other websites. Library staff will create a web page on the ERes system for each instructor's course listing(s) and will scan submitted materials.
How to Use ERes In 5 Easy Steps
- On the Library’s homepage, click on e-Reserve, then “Current materials on e-reserve.”
- Search ERes by instructor’s name, department, or course name and number.
- Click on the link to your course.
- Enter the relevant password given by your instructor. The librarians and staff members of LAU Libraries do not keep a record of individual course page passwords.
- Read the copyright guidelines that appear on the screen. You must accept these guidelines in order to proceed. (N.B: LAU complies with the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17).)
- Click on the reserve item you wish to view. When it appears on the screen, you can either view it on screen, print it, or save it.
How to View ERes documents
- In order to view most ERes documents, the computer you are using must have Adobe Reader software. In the Libraries, Adobe Reader is already loaded.
- If you need the software for your personal computer, you can download it free of charge from Adobe. Go to the Adobe Reader download page and follow the downloading and installation instructions.
