New online advising tool: CAPP
posted December 7, 2009
To all students:
LAU is introducing a new electronic advising tool that allows you to compare courses you are registered in with courses that you should be taking in order to complete your degree requirements. Furthermore, this tool allows you to do a “What-if” analysis allowing you to run an evaluation of any program and major other than your current one.
This new tool is called CAPP or Curriculum Advising and Program Planning. It is a new service within the Banner system.
CAPP is easy to use and is an excellent and important source of information for you as students, since it summarizes progress based on your academic record and assists you in selecting your courses.
As students, you will have access to CAPP according to the following:
- If you are registered at the School of Business or the School of Pharmacy, you will be able to start using CAPP on Monday December 7. To do so, follow the instructions available here.
- If you are registered at any other school, you will be able to start using CAPP on Monday December 21. To do so, follow the instructions available here.
If you are a senior or higher-level student and you think you should be graduating but the unofficial evaluation of CAPP is indicating otherwise, you are welcome to take an appointment to see a staff member at the Registrar’s Office to look into the matter. Due to the confidential nature of this type of information, it will not be dealt with or communicated by telephone.

Accreditation visit notice
posted July 6, 2009
Lebanese American University will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit November 8-11, 2009, by a team representing the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (CIHE-NEASC).
The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education is one of eight accrediting commissions in the United States that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis. Accreditation is voluntary and applies to the institution as a whole. The Commission, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, accredits approximately 200 institutions in the six-state New England region.
Lebanese American University has been candidate for accreditation by the Commission since 2007 and was last reviewed in April 2007. For the past year and a half, Lebanese American University has been engaged in a process of self-study, addressing the Commission’s Standards for Accreditation and also addressing special areas that the Commission asked LAU to concentrate on. An evaluation team will visit the institution to gather evidence that the self-study is thorough and accurate.
The team will recommend to the Commission a decision concerning the status of the institution; following a review process, the Commission itself will take the final action.
The public is invited to submit comments regarding the institution to:
Public Comment on Lebanese American University
Commission on Institutions of Higher Education
New England Association of Schools and Colleges
209 Burlington Road
Bedford, MA 01730-1433
E-mail: cihe@neasc.org
Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution.
Comments will not be treated as confidential.
Written, signed comments must be received by November 11, 2009. The Commission cannot guarantee that comments received after that due date will be considered. Comments should include the name, address, and telephone number of the person providing the comments.
The Commission cannot settle disputes between individuals and institutions, whether those involve faculty, students, administrators, or members of other groups. Individuals considering submitting complaints against an affiliated institution should request the separate Policy and Procedures for the Consideration of Complaints Made Against Affiliated Institutions from the Commission office.
