LAU was host to the first conference for Middle East users of the Banner 2000 student information system, December 3-4, 2001.

The event was organized by Systems & Computer Technology (SCT). Fourty-five participants came from Middle Eastern institutions that have adopted the information system – LAU, the American University of Beirut, the Lebanese University, Zayed University (UAE), Higher College of Technology (UAE), and American University of Sharjah (UAE).

The conference’s main aim was to create a group of regional users that will meet periodically to promote better communication and collaboration. SCT managers and representatives were also on hand to give advice, information and insight of relevance to current Banner users.

The group has planned for another meeting to be held next year at Zayed University.
