Call for Application

The British Council and Maqamat Dance theatre, in partnership with the Department of Communication Arts at the Lebanese American University and theatre Monnot, present the acclaimed British lighting designer Jonathan Samuels, in an "Intensive lighting design course".

This short practical lighting course aims at improving the technical and design skills of professionals and students making, or supporting the making of, live performances for the stage.

The course will combine formal teaching with practical hands-on exercises and tasks to take those with basic skills onto the next level. It will aim to strike a balance between the essential technical aspects that are needed in lighting for the stage whilst also addressing the main concepts and required vocabulary of good design practice.

This course is aimed at those who will directly apply the knowledge and skills gained in a live-art context and who desire to make a valuable contribution to the existing and future Lebanese live-arts scene.

We welcome submissions to attend from existing professionals in technical theatre, or students of that field, who wish to increase their technical knowledge and improve their design skills; as well as applications from existing theatre makers and choreographers, etc., who wish to better self-support their projects via some vital technical and design training.

Interested participants should complete the application form below by December 27, 2013 and send it to general.enquiries@lb.britishcouncil.org with subject "Lighting Design". Only selected participants will be contacted.
