Registration at the Door

"Nutrition and Food Research Day" is the first symposium hosted by the Nutrition program of the Department of Natural Sciences (School of Arts and Sciences) at the Lebanese American University.

The symposium is a venue to present the latest original research from Lebanon and the region in the field of Nutrition and Food Science that aims at addressing the current challenges in the Middle East. Accordingly, the scope includes (but is not limited to) the following:

The symposium is cosponsored by the National Council for Scientific Research. The program features two keynote speakers in the field of Nutrition and Food Security:

Ms. S. Escott-Stump, Author and Former President of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

Dr. Bruno Minjauw, FAO Representative for Lebanon a.i.

The symposium will also include a panel discussion on food safety in Lebanon entitled "Towards a Lebanese Food Safety Law and Authority".

The organizers aim at exposing available research, and evidence-based trends and interventions for the ultimate goal of promoting human well-being and preventing and managing these challenges, as well to open up the opportunity for further collaboration and multidisciplinary research.

The symposium will be attended by health professionals including nutritionists, dietitians, food scientists, researchers, as well as senior undergraduate and graduate students majoring in nutrition, food science or related fields.

Researchers from Lebanon and other countries are invited to submit abstracts for possible inclusion in the program. Abstracts will be subject to review, and will be accepted based on their originality and significance. Accepted abstracts will be presented orally or as posters, after being evaluated by a scientific committee.
