Food Safety Panelists

Ali Berro

Dr. Berro is the director of the Quality Unit/QUALEB at the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade since 2004. He acts as the director of the Lebanese Excellence Award and a board member of the Lebanese Standards Institute – LIBNOR. Dr. Berro has a Ph.D. in Management. He is a lecturer at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Ecole Nationale de L'Administration (ENA).

Mounir Bissat

Mr. Bissat is the President of the Syndicate of Lebanese Food Industrialists. He is the managing director of Mounir Bissat factories in Saida and a board member of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture in Southern Lebanon and of the Lebanese Packaging Center LIBANPACK. Mr. Bissat holds an MBA from LAU and is a lecturer at AUST.

Fadi El Jardali

Dr. Jardali is an Associate Professor of Health Policy, Director of the Knowledge to Policy (K2P) Center; Co-Director of the Center for Systematic Reviews in Health Policy and Systems Research (SPARK); Research Program Director for the Research, Advocacy and Public Policy (RAPP) Program in the Arab World at Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at AUB; and Associate Professor at McMaster University in Canada. Dr. El Jardali holds a PhD in Public Policy and has has more than 60 publications including articles, a book and book chapters.

Toufic Rizk

Dr. Rizk is the dean of the Faculty of Sciences at USJ. He acted as a member of the Lebanese scientific food safety panel that drafted the food safety law based on a collaboration between UNIDO and the Ministry of Economy. Dr. Rizk is a certified food safety auditor and a member of the national quality committee. He had a significant role in the work that was done in Lebanon to upgrade the tahini and halawi sector. Before joining USJ, Dr. Rizk acted as the director of Faculty of Public Heath, Lebanese University.
