Research Trends in Science and Technology

PURPOSE
This conference is a forum for scientists and engineers to present
their research, ideas, developments and applications in basic sciences
and engineering. It will take place at the Lebanese American University
on two campuses (Beirut and Byblos) during the academic year that
marks LAU's 75th anniversary. The conference is meant to be a tribute
to science and technology as the university enters the third millennium.
LOCATION
Beirut (the capital city) and Byblos (a small city built around
an ancient fortress) lie on the Mediterranean Sea coast and enjoy
sunny weather during most of the year. Visitors to Lebanon have
a variety of activities to keep themselves busy from arrival to
departure. Among Lebanon's finest attractions are the ruins of Baalbeck
(a tourist favorite), the Byblos fortress and ancient ruins, beach
and moutain resorts, a rich Lebanese cuisine, the Casino du Liban,
etc.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The official language of the conference is English. Manuscripts
should include an abstract and a maximum of four keywords in addition
to the body of the paper. The entire manuscript should not exceed
10 A4 pages (210mm x 297mm). The text should be in a single column
using single spacing with a minimum font size of 12 points.
Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
The deadline for submitting papers is December 31, 1999. The cover
letter should include the name of the corresponding author and provide
the following for all authors: names, addresses, affiliation, telephone
and fax numbers. Authors will be notified of the acceptance of their
paper by January 31, 2000.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Assistance will be provided for entry visas to Lebanon, reception
at the Beirut international airport and hotel reservations. Special
rates can be arranged with local nearby hotels for the conference
participants.
