Dr. Anahid Kulwicki

Dean, Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing

Dr. Anahid Kulwicki joined LAU in September 2016 as Dean of the Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing.

Prior to joining LAU, Dr. Kulwicki was Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Boston since 2012, Associate Dean for Research and Director of the Ph.D program in nursing (2010-2012) and Director of the Graduate Nursing Program at the Florida International University College of Nursing and Health Sciences (2008-2010). Dr. Kulwicki also served as the deputy director of the Department of Health and Human Services of Wayne County, Michigan, as well as director and health officer for the Department of Public Health of that same county.

With over thirty years of academic and professional experience, Dr. Kulwicki has published numerous chapters in books, peer-reviewed articles appearing in top nursing research journals, and book reviews. She has also given scores of scholarly presentations and speeches and has taken part in numerous funded research programs.

Her research focuses on immigrant, refugee and minority population health. The highlight of her work has been creative collaboration between public and private institutions across multiple disciplines. In that regard, she established the first health research department for the Middle Eastern community in the United States to promote health research and to serve as a conduit for other researchers. In addition, she established and secured funding for the first Arab community-based programs tackling HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, infant mortality, and cardiovascular diseases.

In addition to her impressive academic background, Dr. Kulwicki has served on many centers and institutes, grant review boards and committees, and as a reviewer and consultant for many scholarly journals. She has received 32 professional honors, awards, prizes and fellowships, one of them being fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Kulwicki received her Ph.D in Nursing Synthesis and her MSN in Nursing Care of Children from Indiana University, and her BSN from the American University of Beirut. She was also a Fulbright Scholar in Jordan.
