Director of Global Affairs Service Center
The Global Affairs Service Center is currently looking for a Director of Global Affairs Service Center (GASC) reporting to the Vice President for Business Development & Global Affairs (BDGA). This is a central position that requires presence on both the Beirut and Byblos campuses.Role Summary
The Director of GASC is responsible for assisting the VP-BDGA in promoting the University high-value business partnerships with other universities, governmental agencies, industries, private and public institutions to achieve the University’s mission and goals, as well as providing leadership to the University global affairs team for identifying, researching, and developing entrepreneurial initiatives and business opportunities in Lebanon and the region. S/he works closely with the VP-BDGA, collaborates effectively with all the LAU constituents and manages the University’s Global Affairs Service Center.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and promotes the University’s consulting arm in coordination with the relevant schools through delivery of consulting services to the public and private sectors as well as to international organizations locally, regionally, and internationally
- Assists the VP-BDGA in developing a cohesive strategic plan for the University’s global business development, focusing on the University’s strengths and particular resources, implements the plan, proposes the team structure, and prepares the related budget
- Assists the VP-BDGA in identifying strategic opportunities and subsequently establishing and developing the University’s arm that will plan, develop, and operate physical campuses and business ventures across the region and internationally
- Supports the VP in proactively scouting, identifying and evaluating potential alliances, partnerships, and joint ventures that align with and advance BDGA’s strategic business growth mandate
- Conducts strategic market intelligence and stays abreast of major developments in all relevant sectors bearing on new opportunities, available prospects, and emerging initiatives
- Provides business development support to all BDGA units in terms of strategic outreach, lead generation, pre-sales support, CRM operations, bid management, and project management
- Supports the establishment and ongoing development of the Corporate Engagement Bureau
- Develops, in collaboration with all related LAU entities, the mission implementation schedule, and takes the lead in its implementation both in and outside Lebanon
- Leads, both internally and externally, the promotion and marketing of the mission and activities of GASC
- Establishes, in collaboration with directors of all BDGA entities, collaborative ways of working and human capital capacities that are conducive to business growth
- Assesses and validates business opportunities in alignment with the University’s prevailing strategic plan. Maintains a consolidated pipeline for all BDGA entities, including revenue targets, forecasts, budgets, and P&L
- Nurtures client base and identifies cross-selling opportunities
- Provides strategic direction and mentorship to team members, fostering professional development, and cultivating a high-performance, collaborative team culture
- Sets clear goals, expectations, and priorities for the team and tracks progress. Monitors individual and team performance regularly
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity with a consulting focus
- Strong business acumen and demonstrated success in building and leading high‐performing teams to deliver remarkable results and growth
- Ability to apply critical and strategic thinking to each opportunity while moving fast to make an extraordinary impact for the University and its partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all internal and external partners and stakeholders
- Strong objective focus with the ability to effectively and quickly build relationships built on trust, respect, and results-oriented communication
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated record of resourcefulness, a “make it happen” mindset that delivers results and inspires others
