LAU has been chosen to be a hub for training and coaching in the run-up to the “Arab Business Challenge,” a regional competition offering up to $1 million to each of two teams presenting the best business plans.
The prize money should give the winners a kick-start, if not complete funding, towards realizing their plans.
The innovative contest is organized by Arab Business Angels Network and Young Arab Leaders.
An information session was offered at LAU in March 2006, where two YAL members met with LAU students. Elias Bou Saab, the American University of Dubai’s executive vice president, and Hisham Itani, CEO of Resource Holding s.a.l., briefed attendees on the various phases of the challenge.
Applications are received until the end of March. The second phase will entail training workshops, panel presentations and coaching that LAU will offer in its capacity as “academic center and partner” in Lebanon.
Al-Arabiya TV will cover the event, according to an official press release. The competition is open to people from the Middle East and North Africa ages 18-40. More information is available on the Arab Business Challenge website.
