The Department of Social Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in Political Science in the Byblos campus, effective Fall 2014.

The department is seeking a highly qualified and motivated full-time faculty member who is committed to innovative teaching, research, academic advising and institutional and community service. Candidates must hold a PhD in Political Science with a regional focus on one of the following areas: Asia, Africa or Latin America. They will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in International Relations and Comparative Politics, and in research methodology with emphasis on quantitative methods. They should also contribute to the development of the program, seek external research grants, and perform academic services to the department and the university.

The Department of Social Sciences is one of the seven departments of the School of Arts and Sciences. It offers a B.A. degree in Political Science, a B.A. in Political Science/International Affairs, a B.A. in Psychology, a B.A. in Social Work, and an M.A. degree in International Affairs.

LAU has two campuses, one in Beirut (Lebanon’s cosmopolitan capital and largest population hub) and the other in Byblos, about 35 kilometers north of Beirut.
