The School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University (LAU) is seeking applications for a full-time Clinical Faculty position at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Pharmacy Practice Department. LAU is a leading higher education institution in the Middle East operating on two campuses, Beirut and Byblos Lebanon, and enrolling more than 8000 students. LAU is chartered by the Regents of the State University of New York, and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The School of Pharmacy enrolls over 500 students and offers a BS in Pharmacy and a Pharm.D. program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The School of Pharmacy is committed to achieving and sustaining the highest quality of pharmacy education and pharmaceutical research in the region.
Position Summary
The faculty member will be expected to teach a variety of topics in pharmacotherapeutics/clinical pharmacy courses; develop practice sites at one or more LAU affiliate hospitals, ambulatory care clinics, or outpatient pharmacy sites; precept pharmacy students; and demonstrate sustained scholarly achievements through research/training grants and presentation and publication of scholarly work. In addition, the faculty member will be expected to effectively contribute to the service needs of the School of Pharmacy, serve on various committees at the School, the University, and affiliated University Hospital, and participate in the Pharm.D. program’s accreditation preparation process.
Desired Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Pharm.D. degree with completion of at least a PGY1 ASHP-accredited residency or equivalent clinical training and/or work experience; didactic teaching experience in a classroom setting; and experiential training experience of precepting pharmacy students on clerkship rotations. Desirable qualifications include completion of a PGY-2 ASHP-accredited residency, and/or fellowship program of at least 2 years duration with independent research experience, and previous academic experience in a school of pharmacy and practice in an academic hospital setting. Applicants must demonstrate effective verbal and writing communication skills, leadership abilities, and superior team work approach in order to successfully function in an interdisciplinary environment.
