The Graduate Studies and Research Office is currently searching for an Academic Grant Officer to be located in Byblos campus.
Purpose & Direction:
The Academic Grant Officer is responsible to assist the university faculty in seeking, developing, managing, and submitting proposal for national and international funding in accordance with the established policies of the University. The candidate reports to the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and should establish and maintain effective working relationships between grant applicants/recipients, funding sources, LAU administrative departments and external regulatory agencies. The Academic Grant Officer is a non-faculty academic appointment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the LAU qualifications/requirements are met for major international funding agencies (NIH, NSF, EC, etc…)
- Oversees, directs and facilitates the Research grants management functions at LAU
- Responds promptly and accurately to all enquiries from granting agencies
- Complements the scientific and technical knowledge of Principal Investigators with expertise in the business and other non-programmatic areas of grants administration
- Ensures that required laws, regulations and established policies are fulfilled
- Serves as the central point for receipt and processing of all grant applications and related documents
- Ensures that grants are awarded, administered and terminated in accordance with
- established policies and procedures of granting agencies and LAU
- Reviews applications submitted to funding agencies and granting foundations
- Interprets for faculty the regulations of the granting agencies
- Assists principal investigators in identifying research funding opportunities
- Negotiates the terms and conditions of awards, whenever required
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must have:
- Advanced education at the Master’s level, a Ph.D. is highly desirable.
- Up to eight years of professional experience in grant programs development and administration in an academic environment
- Supervision skills
- A successful record of preparing proposals and administering grants from international, national and private funding agencies is required
- Excellent Organizational skills and managerial skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with faculty and staff in a variety of disciplines across the university
