Campus Comptroller – Beirut Campus

The Finance Department at LAU has a vacancy for a Campus Comptroller responsible for managing, and controlling all the financial activities of Beirut campus; additionally, he/she is responsible for managing efficiently the Business Office personnel.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all financial activities at the campus are performed in full compliance with university’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain sound and transparent accounting records for all the financial transactions in compliance with legal, GAAP and tax requirements in Lebanon and the US.
- Supervise subordinates functions and approves respective transactions; ensures that all transactions are properly approved and supported.
- Ensure proper assessment of risks associated with students deferred payments and fees due.
- Ensure proper management of cash and banks balances; and timely transfers of fund
- Monitor, where applicable, campus operating and capital budgets in coordination with Budget Office.
- Review internal control processes, propose enhancements and implement approved procedures.
- Ensure proper coordination with internal & external auditors and ensure that their findings are properly analyzed and answered.
- Ensure that monthly closing of accounts is performed as per set schedules.
- Act as a bank signatory as indicated in the appropriate procedures.
- Ensure that reports are published and commented on.
- Ensure proper follow up on pending issues with other departments and outsiders.
- Prepare and monitor the department operating and capital budget.
- Participate in the formulation of the University Financial Plan.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Holder of a Bachelor’s degree from a renowned university. Master’s Degree in Business Administration is a plus
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience
- Technical knowledge in:
o Accounting standards
o Microsoft office
o ERP systems
- Very good communication and planning skills
- Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality
- Service excellence and customer focus
- Excellent English and Arabic writing/reading skills
- Sound analytical thinking and critical judgment
