The Outreach and Civic Engagement Office (OCE) has a vacancy for a Lead/Senior Coordinator of Outreach and Leadership. He/she will be reporting to the AVP of OCE.
The Lead/Senior Coordinator of Outreach and Leadership coordinates student leadership program, such as the MUN/MAL and other simulation models both internally and externally and coordinates the outreach and leadership academy that LAU has in Sidon, in addition to other emerging academies in various areas of Lebanon. In addition, he/she coordinates the global outreach and leadership development held at LAU NY and the leadership certification program that OCE initiated with the vast network of educational institutions and external stakeholders.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Administers new student leadership development programs at LAU that educate and involve students from both campuses in leadership projects.
- Acts as an advocate for student leadership in the community.
- Serves as a resource person for students interested in developing leadership skills and opportunities.
- Assists in planning and coordinating simulation leadership programs such as the LAU MUN and MAL programs.
- Works with other institutional departments and programs to develop and sustain student leadership programs.
- Coordinates the Leadership and Outreach Academies that OCE is responsible of such as OLA.
- Assists in planning and coordinating the International Global Classrooms Middle and High School Model UN conferences in New York that OCE hosts every year.
- Oversees leadership programs as designated by OCE management which may include leadership development workshops, certified programs, volunteer programs, philanthropic events, training and residential leadership camps.
- Assesses the impact of leadership initiatives at LAU through using quantitative and qualitative methodologies (surveys, focus groups, testimonials, etc.…).
- Assists in fund raising activities to expand the student leadership culture at LAU.
- Assists in writing grant proposals to support the outreach and leadership programs at LAU.
- Advises students as they pursue projects directed at addressing and solving public problems.
- Publicizes and provides accessible opportunities for students to gain leadership experiences.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor degree in a related field from a renowned university. Masters is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic
- Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience, of which 3 years in a similar function
- Demonstrated ability to self-start, meet deadlines and yet be part of a team working toward a common goal
- Proven experience to work cooperatively and in a leadership role with students, staff, faculty, and community members
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Software applications: Microsoft Office, Banner and People365
- Self-confident and resilient
- Analytical thinker, creative and innovative
- Ability to uphold organizational values and maintain confidentiality and impartiality
