Science Lab Technician

The School of Pharmacy at Byblos Campus has a vacancy for a Science Lab Technician who is mainly responsible for maintaining proper Lab operations and activities and assisting instructors and students in their work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organizes Lab operations including preparation of chemicals, solutions, culture media, stains and reagents; dispensing proper amounts of reagents to students, setting up of equipment and assisting Lab Instructors and students during Lab sessions;
- Stores and maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment, keeping and updating records of inventory and ensuring proper storage procedures;
- Maintains equipment in a functional state, arranging for repairs and ordering replacements;
- Monitors Lab safety measures and establishes necessary procedures and systems to avoid potential hazards. Keeps a neat and orderly work area;
- Assists Instructors with follow-up checks on quality problems and takes necessary measures to rectify them;
- Coordinates research activities and assists in recording, compiling and organizing data as required;
- Coordinates and provides assistance to faculty to develop new experiments and formulate instructional modules for existing and proposed experiments;
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- BA/BS or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology
- Two to four years of experience
- Considerable knowledge of basic principles and laboratory applications in pharmaceutical sciences, biology and chemistry
- Knowledge of current laboratory methods, equipment function, materials and ability to perform standardized pharmaceutical, biological and chemical examinations independently
- Ability to make and record scientific observations accurately, prepare and present scientific records and report
- Knowledge of Public Health Laboratory laws and regulations
- Ability to relate well to a variety of individuals, including students, faculty and staff
