Website Editor (Part-Time position)

The School of Pharmacy at LAU Byblos is seeking a part-time Website Editor to run its website. In essence, this position is responsible for the website’s effectiveness. The job entails understanding goals, audience and competition; planning, reviewing, updating, and writing content; evaluating the website and improving it.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the School of Pharmacy website continues to serve the purpose it was built for
- Sets and follows a review schedule
- Calls on the people or entities concerned, seeking new data and updates
- Re-writes internal documentation into user-centered content
- Publishes news articles — a mix of original pieces written by him/her, stories appearing on the main LAU website, and media coverage
- Procures, selects and optimizes images where needed
- Publishes new content at least once a week
- Uses a publishing system to make all updates and additions (will receive training)
- Ensures accuracy and compliance with accreditation standards/requirements
- Ensures consistency in style and usage throughout the website (follows LAU’s style guide)
- Publishes well-written material, which is clear to the intended audience
- Pays attention to readability and user experience
- Makes sure content is findable on search engines and accessible to people with disabilities
- Systematically tests, evaluates, and collects feedback about the website, using the findings to improve it
- Analyzes website metrics periodically. Performs usability tests
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Communication or a related field from a renowned university
- Five or more years of practice writing for the web and managing an editorial workflow
- Demonstrated ability to write news reports and engaging features
- Command of English. Ability to express ideas accurately, clearly and concisely, adapting tone and style to the target audience. Good Arabic language skills (reading and writing)
- Demonstrated ability to choose attractive and appropriate imagery for different topics, and to write effective captions/descriptions. Detail-oriented and audience-centered
- Web publishing experience: using a CMS or blogging platform; optimizing images; uploading text and graphics; making links; embedding multimedia; basic video editing and conversion
- Evidence-driven and goal-oriented
- Excellent communication skills, organization and time management skills
- Persistence, patience, perseverance
