Student Health Insurance

Fall 2020 Medical Insurance Premiums

Students enrolled in any university in Lebanon are required by law to be covered by health insurance. Accordingly and upon registration, health coverage premiums are added to ALL student university accounts as follows:

Medical Insurance

Premiums of $331 insure you for up to $750 emergency fees due to accidents and $50,000 worth of 2nd class hospitalization costs (In-Hospital plan) at LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital in Achrafieh and the soon to open LAU Medical Center - Saint John Hospital in Jounieh.

(Note: until LAU Medical Center-SJH becomes fully operational, Notre Dame Des Secours & Maritime Hospitals will remain in the Restricted Plan).

School Liability

Premiums of $15 insure you in case of accidents on campus or outside campus on university sponsored activities.

Note: This charge is mandatory for all students and cannot be waived.

National Social Security Fund (NSSF)

You will pay $135 if you are Lebanese or French with no proof of social security coverage for you. Students holding other nationalities are exempted from this charge as they do not benefit from NSSF.

Note: If you hold a dual nationality, the NSSF fee will be charged/waived according to the nationality that you have presented or petitioned for at the Admissions office.

Also, freshman students and students aged 30 and above are exempted from the NSSF fee.

If you are enrolled for fall 2020, the above three charges will be added by default to your statement of fees. If you are already covered through other types of health coverage (listed below), you must complete an online waiver (learn how to clear the cache in case the link does not work) indicating proof of your personal medical insurance/NSSF/other coverages no later than September 22, 2020. Once the waiver is verified and approved, the premium will be removed from your statement of fees. Thus, eligible students must complete the online waiver with their own creditable medical coverage before the deadline and before printing the statement of fees.
