Position Summary
The Department of Communication Arts in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University (LAU) invites applicants to a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. The department is interested in applicants who have a record of achievements in filmmaking and film production and who can contribute to developing the BA in Television and Film and other related future programs.
Responsibilities
- Teach on both campuses professional courses in digital film production practices, from introductory to advanced levels, such as courses in filmmaking principles, directing, producing, editing, cinematography, scriptwriting, storytelling, narrative and documentary filmmaking, and other advanced cinematic arts modules.
- Advise and mentor students in the Film and Television track and support student film production projects.
- Actively engage in scholarly production focused on Arab film and media.
- Engage in service to the university and the department, particularly related to developing the new Film and Television program and future graduate degrees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D., MFA or other terminal degree in film studies or related field.
- Evidence of creative professional output and experience in filmmaking.
- Evidence of successful university teaching.
- Demonstrated interest in the Lebanese and Arab film scenes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluent in Arabic.
- Ability to produce professional content, using the latest technologies and concepts in filmmaking.
- Ability to teach visual effects and knowledge of postproduction workflow is a plus.
