The Lebanese American University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate/Full professorial rank to fill the newly established MedGulf Faculty Chair in Actuarial Science, effective Fall 2011. Preference will be given to candidates who are holders of a Ph.D. Degree in Actuarial Science or related field and who have had experience in teaching related courses at the college level. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach courses and be engaged in research in the areas of life and health insurance, pension funds and financial security.
Actuarial Science is currently offered as a minor at LAU and the successful candidate is expected to assist in developing this discipline into a major. He or she are expected also to assist in preparing students to qualify for the preliminary actuarial examinations administered by the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society of the United States.
