GRA487 / 3D Animation Techniques [2-2, 3 cr.]
The 3D Animation course is divided into three sections allowing students to progressively master three dimensional Computer-generated imagery, and to combine their knowledge with different output formats and means.
The first section of the course builds a fundamental understanding of 3D computer modeling, texture mapping, lighting, and camera rendering in order to develop 3D animated sequences.
The second Section of the class combines lectures with guided tutorials to demonstrate the mechanism of advanced 3D MAX character rigging and animation using Bone rigging and CAT toolkit.
The third part acquaints students with the advanced features of 3D Max and combined compositing possibilities. Students are directed to master essential advanced 3D Max and AFTER EFFECTS COMPOSITING and INTEGRATION skills through hands-on experiment.
3D animation course is designed for students who are well versed in both concepts and technical research. The course challenges students to embark on animated projects that allow them more discretion regarding tools, and techniques employed.
Class discussions focus more on trouble-shooting while applying advanced 3D methods and traditional animation principles. To accommodate the students’ desire to further their skills, the course introduces more sophisticated techniques at every stage of animation development and guides students to incorporate them into their course projects.
