The School of Arts and Sciences - Beirut Campus- has a vacancy for an Academic Assistant (part-time position) to provide administrative support to the Faculty, Chair and Associate Chair of the Department of Humanities.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Provides administrative assistance to faculty and staff of the Department of Humanities and the Department of English
- Receives visitors and attends to their requests
- Performs daily correspondence and filing
- Maintains, processes and updates files, records and/or other documents
- Performs basic daily routine tasks: typing, copying, phone calls, processing forms, mail duties and other office duties
- Orders stocks and office supplies
- Answers queries concerning activities and operations
- Schedules and arranges calendar items, appointments, interviews, meetings, conferences, and other events
- Makes (business) travel and lodging arrangements
- Performs data entry
- Establishes and maintains a formal filing system
- Edits and proofreads documents
- Coordinates with other departments/schools on administrative and/or operational matters
- Performs various administrative tasks
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Chair and Associate Chair
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree from a recognized university (two to three years experience in a similar academic setting is a plus) or a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar context. Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Good oral and written Arabic communication skills. French is a plus
- Excellent English computer skills
- Good Arabic computer skills. French computer skills is a plus
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Ability to relate well to a variety of individuals, including students, staff, faculty and visitors
