Central Comptroller

The Finance department at LAU has a vacancy for a Central Comptroller responsible for preparing, managing, and controlling all the financial accounting and the respective financial statements of the University & Affiliated entities as well as all the required reports. The position is based in Beirut Campus, but periodic commuting to Byblos Campus is required.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the University maintains sound and transparent accounting records in compliance with legal, GAAP and tax requirements in Lebanon and the US
- Supervise subordinates functions, meeting agreed deadlines and approves respective transactions; ensures that all transactions are properly approved and supported.
- Liaise with appointed auditors to ensure the University accounts are well presented
- Guarantee that financial and management reports are prepared timely and accurately
- Ensure that accounting standards and revisions are well comprehended and properly implemented.
- Maintain proper and up-to-date documentation relating to accounting standards. Ensures immediate communication of any new regulations and/or reportable conditions
- Act as a bank signatory as indicated in the appropriate procedures
- Ensure performing proper closing of the accounts which are properly reconciled and analyzed
- Ensure proper follow up on pending issues with other departments and outsiders
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from a renowned university, and a CPA certification. Master’s Degree is a Plus
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience
- Good knowledge in: Accounting standards, Microsoft office, and ERP systems, and Oracle E-Business suite
- Very good communication and planning skills
- Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality
- Service excellence and customer focus
- Excellent English and Arabic writing/reading skills
- Sound analytical thinking and critical judgment
