The Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW) is currently searching for a Project Coordinator to be located in Beirut Campus.
Position Summary:
The position of Project Coordinator is to provide support to development projects undertaken by the Institute - specifically to write proposals and secure funding for initiatives. The Project Coordinator will also work on certain outreach activities - social media in particular.
Main Functions and Responsibilities:
- Actively seek opportunities to submit proposals with key donors
- Review RFPs to develop proposal plan
- Develop proposal outline, compliance matrix, and proposal schedule
- Gather information and write various proposal sections, including executive summaries, past performance/qualification summaries and resumes
- Review/rewrite proposal inputs and coordinate with IWSAW team to ensure accuracy
- Edit proposals and related documents for completeness and compliance with editorial standards and proposal formatting/composition
- Coordinate proposal reviews, ensuring compliance with solicitation requirements
- Create and maintain a proposal library/database – both hard copy and electronic
- Maintain inventory of all opportunities- past, present and future
- Maintain contract matrix and keep past performance information up to date
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining personal networks
- Maintain quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintain proposal support databases
- Gather proposal information by identifying sources of information; coordinate submissions and collections; identify and communicate risks associated with proposals
- Support the implementation of development projects in conjunction with IWSAW team
- Manage all aspects of social media including updates to website, Facebook, Twitter
- Update to social media frequently – and include other forms of electronic outreach
- Gather followers and respond to social media dialogue and requests
- Post updates as per IWSAW team suggestions
- Support IWSAW in certain outreach activities – such as film festival and conferences and other learning events
- Support IWSAW Director in managing Gender Liaison Committee – organize meetings, take minutes, collect information, draft reports, etc…
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in a related field from a renowned university. Masters is a plus
- Proven experience in working with gender issues – work experience and/or research/academic experience
- Strong leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to self-start, meet deadlines and yet be part of a team working toward a common goal
- Strong interest in gender issues, human rights, social justice
- Thorough knowledge of current events
- Ability to liaise with donors – national, regional, international
- Proven experience to work cooperatively and in a leadership role with students, staff, faculty, and community members
- Strong organizational skills
- Social media and computer skills essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic
