Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to academically strong students and can be continued into subsequent years provided the eligibility criteria are maintained.
Merit Scholarships (100% of Tuition)
Merit scholarships are awarded to a number of outstanding high school students covering 100% of the recipient’s tuition and aiming to encourage and promote academic excellence.
Eligibility requirements:
- Be a graduate of a school in Lebanon.
- Be a student in Grade 12 (Lebanese Baccalaureate) or its equivalent.
- Achieve excellent academic performance in high school and obtain high SAT scores.
- Demonstrate extra-curricular involvement and leadership skills.
Application procedure:
- Fill the Merit scholarship application form and submit it to the Admissions Office.
Conditions to maintain the merit scholarship:
- Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 15 credits per semester.
- Register in the major that the scholarship is awarded for.
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 at the end of the first semester, and 3.5 thereafter.
- Must not withdraw from or repeat more than 6 credits during the undergraduate tenure at LAU.
- Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and maintain exemplary behavior.
- Application deadline: January 31
Bacc. Scholarships (50% of Tuition)
Bacc. scholarships are awarded to newly admitted students covering 50% of the tuition fees based on their Lebanese or French official Baccalaureate exam results.
Eligibility requirements:
- Obtain excellent scores on the Lebanese or French official Baccalaureate.
Procedure:
- No application is required; the Bacc. scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified students who will receive a confirmation letter along with their offer of admission.
- Conditions to maintain the Bacc. scholarship:
- Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 15 credits per semester.
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 at all times.
- Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and maintain exemplary behavior.
SAT Scholarships (50% of Tuition)
SAT scholarships are awarded to newly admitted students covering 50% of the tuition fees of the first year of enrollment based on their SAT scores. This scholarship may be renewed in subsequent years in the form of an honor scholarship based on their cumulative GPA.
Eligibility requirements:
- Obtain a high SAT score.
Procedure:
- No application is required; the SAT scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified students who will receive a confirmation letter along with their offer of admission.
- Conditions to maintain the SAT scholarship in the first year:
- Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 credits per semester
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 in the first semester
- Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and sustain an exemplary behavior
Entrance Scholarships (10-50% of Tuition)
Entrance scholarships are awarded to newly admitted students in the fall semester of every year and cover from 10% to 50% of the tuition fees of the first year of enrollment based on a combination of their high school grades and SAT scores. This scholarship may be renewed in subsequent years in the form of Honor scholarship if the student maintains a minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Eligibility requirements:
- Achieve excellent academic performance in high school grades and obtain high SAT scores.
Procedure:
- No application is required; the entrance scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified students who will receive a confirmation letter along with their offer of admission.
- Conditions to maintain the entrance scholarship:
- Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 credits per semester
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 in the first semester
- Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and maintain exemplary behavior
Honor Scholarships for Current LAU Students (10-50% of Tuition)
Honor scholarships are automatically awarded to LAU students, with a CGPA of 3.5 and above, upon completion of 24 credits at LAU (after first academic year) as follows:

- Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 credits per semester.
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5.

Athletic Scholarship
Athletic scholarships are awarded to newly admitted students with recognized athletics skills.
Eligibility requirements:
- Have an athletic award, prize or recognition.
Application procedure:
- Fill out the Athletic scholarship application form and submit it to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.
- Submit all supporting documents confirming skills in the specified athletics field.
- The Athletic Scholarship selection committee will evaluate applications and selected candidates will receive a confirmation letter.
Conditions:
- Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 credits per semester.
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0.
- Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and sustain an exemplary behavior.
- Application deadline: April 30
Renewal of scholarship:
- Renewal is on a semester-by-semester basis subject to the student’s academic and athletic performance and discipline.
CNRS Scholarships
In collaboration with the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS), LAU is offering full scholarships to the top five students in Lebanon with the highest scores in the official Lebanese Baccalaureate.
The National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) is a public institution established in 1962 and assigned with the task of formulating national science and technology policy, initiating, guiding, supporting and conducting scientific research programs and activities in Lebanon.
Eligibility requirements:
- Rank among top five in any of the four sections of the Lebanese Baccalaureate exam (General Science, Life Science, Economics/Sociology, or Humanities).
- Hold a Lebanese citizenship.
Procedure:
- No application is required. As a top student among the five highest scorers in the Lebanese Baccalaureate, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education will pass on your name to the CNRS and you will be notified and invited to an orientation session.
- Conditions to maintain the merit scholarship:
- Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 15 credits per semester.
- Register in the major that the scholarship is awarded for.
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 at the end of the first semester, and 3.5 thereafter.

U.S.-Funded Scholarship Programs
USAID Higher Education Scholarship Program
- University Scholarship Program (USP VIII) and Refugee/Displaced Scholarship Support (RSS) provide undergraduate scholarships to promising public and private high school students and technical school graduates from all governorates of Lebanon.
- A one-year certificate program for non-Lebanese refugees/Displaced, public and private high school students residing in all governorates of Lebanon.
