The Lebanese American University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Pharmacy. The Lebanese American University is a leading higher education institution in the Middle East operating on two campuses, Beirut and Byblos, and enrolling more than 8000 students. It also has a major medical center in Beirut and an academic center in New York City. The University is chartered by the Regents of the State University of New York, and Accredited by the New England Commission on Higher Education, Inc. (NECHE). The School of Pharmacy enrolls over 450 students and offers a BS in Pharmacy, a PharmD program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and an MS in Pharmaceutical Development and Management.

Position Summary

The Dean of Pharmacy will be the chief academic officer of the School, and will be responsible for all matters relating to academic leadership and administration including overseeing of academic programs, faculty, staff and students. The Dean will set standards of intellectual engagement and accomplishment for the School and will provide strategic vision and operational leadership to all aspects of the academic and clinical programs, creating an environment that supports the School’s faculty and its students.

The Dean should have a commitment to academic freedom and the centrality of the liberal arts core within the broader context of university education, and a demonstrated ability to articulate a compelling, strategic vision and long-term goals for the School of Pharmacy in a strategic planning context built on LAU’s distinguished record in pharmaceutical education.

The Dean reports to the Provost and serves as a voting member on the Council of Deans, and Ex-Officio member on several other University councils.

Required Qualifications

The dean must be qualified to provide leadership in pharmacy professional education and practice, including teaching, research, scholarly activities, and service. He/she must unite and inspire a high-performance team of faculty, staff, preceptors, and students toward achievement of the school’s mission and goals.
