The Office of the Vice President of Finance is currently looking for an Assistant Vice President for Finance – Business Development & Health Affairs (AVPF-BDHA) reporting to the Vice President for Finance (VPF) with a dotted reporting responsibility to the Vice President for Business Development and Global Affairs (VPBDGA) and the Vice President for Health Affairs (VPHA).
Role Summary
The AVPF-BDHA is responsible for assisting the VPF in providing the required financial support to the business development and health affairs teams both in Lebanon and internationally. In this newly created role, the AVPF-BDHA will play an important role in all financial matters, in coordination with the business development and health affairs teams, including but not limited to, financial feasibilities and planning, financial modeling, projects pricing, tariffing, standardization of financial strategies and systems related to the university’s Business Development and Integrated Health System. This role will also be involved in the development of strategies and integrated execution plans that achieve clearly defined business development and health services objectives.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Business Development & Global Affairs
Works closely with the VP Finance and VP Business Development and Global Affairs on all financial matters related to business development and global expansion.
- Assesses new venture opportunities form a financial perspective presenting the opportunity and risk factors
- Prepares financial models for assessment and valuation, as well as project business plans that include pricing
- Builds launched projects’ financial structures, sets operational KPI, implements internal control, structures the reporting base in conformity with international reporting standards, and oversees the consolidation process
Health Affairs
Works closely with the VP Finance and the VP Health Affairs on all financial matters related to LAU’s Integrated Health System.
- Assists in enhancing the university clinics operations in terms of pricing, collections, and allocation of revenues
- Ensures optimization of pricing standards and pricing models across various specializations and services based on proper costing to safeguard continuous meticulous monitoring of the price lists for frequent and accurate updates within LAU health network
- Builds and controls a healthy and competitive system for billing surcharges aiming at ensuring realistic profitability and safeguarding the institution’s image with proper controls for deductions and efficient collection
- Assists in developing special pricing models for LAU community patients, enhancing the pricing system at the hospitals to cater for the community needs while avoiding undesired surcharges. Negotiates special terms with LAU’s health insurance provider based on thorough assessment of cost
- Standardizes the accounting and reporting systems at both medical centers and the university for consolidation purposes, including overseeing the development of specific dashboards and reporting tools adapted to the strategic needs of the university and the medical centers administration
- Optimizes and standardizes the financial functions within the ERP system producing financials based on accounting and fair market value outcomes
- Assists in standardizing the reporting, budgeting, and financial planning modeling
- Negotiates tariffs and pricing models with insurances, TPAs, and other agencies, and assesses the hospitals’ price competitiveness based on geographic location and quality of services
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Master degree
- At least 20 years of work experience, with at least 10 years of progressive senior management experience
- Demonstrated ability to operate in absolute compliance with all applicable business and healthcare standards
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high‐performing teams to deliver remarkable results and growth
- Proven success in developing comprehensive strategies and executing integrated plans to achieve performance targets, along with the consistent ability to apply critical and strategic thinking to each opportunity while moving fast to make an extraordinary impact for the University and its partners
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively, as a team leader and a team member, with all internal and external partners and stakeholders
- Strong objective focus with the ability to effectively and quickly build relationships built on trust, respect, and results-oriented communication
- Expert ability presenting complex data and information in a manner that is understood by the audience while ensuring it is relevant and compelling
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
