Position Summary
The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the field of Bioinformatics. The department is seeking highly qualified and motivated faculty members who are committed to research, innovative teaching, program development, academic advising, and institutional service.
Qualifications
Prospective candidates must have earned a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related discipline from a well-recognized University and have an excellent publication record with evidence of success in securing external funding for research. Experience in evolutionary and functional genomics, data science, and strong programming skills in scripted languages is required.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate Bioinformatics Science courses
- Engage in scholarly work and research
- Advise and mentor students
- Supervise capstone projects and MSc Thesis students
- Engage in service to the department, the university and the profession
- Contribute to the development of the program and seek external grants
- Additional duties may be set by the department in light of departmental needs and priorities
The Department:
The Department of Computer Science & Mathematics is one of the five departments of the School of Arts and Sciences at LAU. It offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science, a B.S. in Bioinformatics, a B.S. in Mathematics, a Master of Science (M.S.) in Applied and Computational Mathematics and an M.S. in Computer Science.

LAU has two campuses, one in Beirut and the other in Byblos, about 35 kilometers north of Beirut.
